Volunteer/Coaches Requirements

Volunteer/Coaches Requirements

US Soccer requires all volunteers to complete the following requirements before the start of the volunteer's first season of the soccer year (Fall - Spring). This includes requirements for Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association (MYSA), Safe Sport/US soccer, CDC, and Westborough Youth Soccer Association (WYSA). The whole process takes 2-3 hours to complete. Once certified to coach by completing all steps, you will receive a credential/lanyard.

Helpful guide to complete the steps in the process

1. MYSA Requirements - every soccer season from (spring to fall) ALL coaches need to log into the MYS website.

This step will register you as a coach for the year and will allow you to apply for a CORI, if needed. CORIs are good for a few years. New CORIs take a few days to clear in the system.

On the site, you will upload a headshot photo and select Westborough Youth Soccer Association (WYSA) as your volunteer organization.

Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association's website. Scroll down and select "Register Now". If you have an account from a prior year, enter that information in the returning users area.

The Mass. Youth Soccer site is also where it will prompt you to complete expired or new certificates.

****Please use the same log-in information (legal first name and last), password, etc. to have your SafeSport and Concussion
Certificates connect. This will save you time so you do not have to upload the certificates.

US Soccer Soccer Connect helpline at 800-808-7195 or 855-703-2558.

2. SafeSport/US Soccer Requirements

Please allow 1-1.5 hours to complete the SafeSport Training.

After completion, if you used the same log-in information as your MYS account it should show up next time you log into your account. We always recommend saving the certificate, in case there are any issues and then you can upload it to your MYS account, if needed.

New users:

After completion, if you used the same log-in information as your MYS account it should show up next time you log into your account. We always recommend saving the certificate, in case there are any issues and then you can upload it to your MYS account, if needed.

-After all coaching steps are completed, a credential can be printed by the Registrar. A credential is valid for one soccer year, i.e. Fall 2020-Spring 2021. When a credential is completed, the Risk Manager will reach out regarding to pick-up instructions. If you have a question why you have not received or lost a credential, please email [email protected].

Credentials are required to coach and must be presented to the referees during game days. They also should be on-hand during practices (shown on a phone, etc) or nearby.
